Portrait #1 Pwixel.art: Lyonnais mushrooms but not only! 🍄

Hello Pwixel.art, can you tell us when, how and why you fell into the world of street art mosaics?

Actually, it's because of my wife. She participated in a mosaic workshop and I was interested in discovering the techniques. I found it very simple to do, so I said to myself “And why not me!?”.

How would you describe your trademark (inspiration, shapes, colors, tiles, places, etc.)?

To be honest, I'm still researching.

I started by making Toad heads which I placed in the towns I stayed in, but currently I want to explore other things.

At the moment, I'm thinking about it because I've started creating much bigger models related to football ⚽ and also embellishing walls with landscapes and bees 🐝.

Can you tell us about your first mosaic (from the idea to its installation)?

For my first mosaic, in all humility, I reproduced it from an image found on Google. It was a Mario that I glued near my home to test the material and see if the quality of the glue would hold up over time.

What s countries and cities have you invaded?

I installed my mosaics in France, in Lyon only, in Spain (Almería x11 and Tarragona x1) and in Italy (Turin x1).

Do you have any idea how many mosaics you installed?

Currently, I have installed 48 and around ten are waiting to be fixed. 😉

Your favorite mosaic?

My favorite pasted mosaic is without hesitation the face of Doraemon, installed in the city center of Almería. Besides, I have a nice anecdote on this subject that I will tell you in the following question.

And otherwise my favorite of all is still at home, I'm waiting for the right time and the right place to put it! 😉

Do you have a bad experience to tell us?

Bad, it could have been, but in the end everything went well.

Let me explain to you. When I placed Doraemon's head in the center of Almería, it was around 2 a.m. in July 2023. I climb on my ladder, I fix the mosaic, I tap to make sure the glue sets well when I I hear a car slow down behind me then stop... I continue my business for 5 seconds then I turn around to look... And there, I see that it's the Guardia Civil...

My blood runs cold... I tell myself that this is going to end badly, but I tell myself that in any case, I might as well continue as if nothing had happened and I continue to fix my mosaic...

And 10 seconds later, I hear the car start and then drive away...

I got the fright of my life !!!!

What are your plans for 2024?

I ask myself a lot of questions about what I want to do: football or bees in landscape, because it is expensive and requires a lot of mosaic tiles.

Your wildest dream?

Find funding to be able to create without impacting the family budget. 😅

Which artist would you like me to interview for the next portrait?

@Inthewoup inspired me a lot and continues to do so!

How to follow you (site, Instagram account, username to flash, etc.)?

You can find me on Instagram: @pwixel.art

THANKS !
